Southern Irrigation Grows By Acquiring Two New Locations Specializing in Zimmatic Pivot Sprinklers

Chilliwack, BC, January 18, 2021

Southern Irrigation, Canada’s leading provider of intelligent water solutions, continues its goal of helping more agricultural growers succeed. The company has completed its acquisition of Highlands Irrigation, a key pivot sprinkler irrigation provider in Western Canada.

This strategic acquisition will allow Southern Irrigation to provide their customers with market-leading pivot sprinklers from Lindsay Corporation which are known for their precision performance and long-lasting quality.

“We’re excited to provide additional offerings from top-tier suppliers such as Lindsay and their range of Zimmatic centre pivot and lateral sprinklers. Whether it’s a farmer that focuses on corn, hay, vegetables or dairy, we can provide them with irrigation that’s more consistent than dryland farming that can be set up quickly and requires little oversight once running. This means they grow more crops with better quality, year after year.” – Jeff Oostenbrink, CEO of Southern Irrigation.

Because of its flexibility and cost-effectiveness, pivot and lateral irrigation remain one of the most popular forms of irrigation in Canada. In some Western Canada provinces, up to 80% of irrigated farms use this method of irrigation.

“We’ve built a loyal group of customers who quickly see the benefits of centre pivot sprinkler systems versus traditional, dryland irrigation — and never looked back. Being part of Southern Irrigation means we can offer additional irrigation solutions where other systems may not work. For farmers moving into automated irrigation for the first time, we make the transition simple and painless,” said Dick Ford, former CEO of Highlands Irrigation who will become the new Location Leader of Southern Irrigation’s new Williams Lake facility.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Southern Irrigation into the Lindsay family,” said Jason Parker, Director of Dealer Development at Lindsay Corporation. “Their proven expertise has made them a trusted name in Canada’s irrigation industry, and we’re excited to partner with them to bring our Zimmatic and FieldNET solutions to growers throughout British Columbia.”

As part of the acquisition, Southern Irrigation will maintain the two formerly Highlands Irrigation retail locations in Williams Lake and Kamloops, BC which are already being redesigned and transformed into Southern Irrigation’s signature white-and-blue designs. These new locations will be added into Southern Irrigation’s four existing storefronts for a total of 6 locations, providing more irrigation solutions across Western Canada.
