Subsurface Drip Irrigation2024-07-08T13:19:03-07:00

UNDERGROUND DRIP SYSTEMS

Subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) is a version of traditional drip irrigation where driplines are buried beneath the soil instead of placed on the surface, delivering water and nutrients directly to crop roots. This method reduces water evaporation, minimizes weed growth, and enhances crop yields through efficient root zone management. By placing driplines at optimal depths based on soil type and crop needs, SDI maximizes water and fertilizer use, making it ideal for arid climates and high-value crops.

The depth and placement of driplines depend on soil type and root structure. Subsurface drip irrigation isn’t just an irrigation system; it’s a tool for precise root zone management. Fertilizer can be applied directly to the root zone, enhancing efficiency and crop performance.

Contact one of our certified designers today for a quote on the most efficient irrigation method for your crops. Crops like alfalfa, corn, canola, durum wheat, and potatoes have shown significant yield increases with SDI.

FEATURED SDI PROJECT

Valk Land and Cattle Ltd.

SDI PUMP HOUSE

“We managed to have the system running in the dryest year in history, and I originally thought this was a home run.
I think it was a grand slam.

Even in the extreme heat and the lack of moisture, we only needed 11.5″, and we stopped irrigating on August 12th.

The profile was empty when we started, and we finished the season with a full profile.”

– Lawrence Vandervalk, Valk Land and Cattle Ltd
