What Makes the Eljen GSF ® A42 Stand Out?

The Eljen GSF® A42 is a compact, efficient solution for wastewater treatment. Each module combines geotextile fabric with a plastic core to create a robust system that filters and pre-treats effluent before it reaches the soil. Here’s why it’s an excellent choice:

1. Advanced Treatment in Less Space: The Eljen GSF offers superior treatment using 50% less space than traditional systems, making it ideal for properties with limited space or challenging site conditions.

2. Superior Strength and Durability: Made from lightweight recycled materials, the GSF® A42 is engineered for strength and durability, handling daily use with minimal maintenance.

3. Efficient Filtration with Two-Stage Biomat: The patented two-stage biomat filtration process pre-treats effluent, increasing the system’s long-term leaching capacity—up to three times that of similar systems.

4. Environmental Benefits: By pre-treating effluent, the GSF® A42 protects the soil’s long-term acceptance rate (LTAR) and preserves groundwater quality. Its compact design reduces the system’s finished grade, minimizing site impact.

How Does the Eljen Modular Leach Field System Work?

Eljen Sewage leachfield primary zone

The GSF ® A42 operates through a two-zone treatment process:

PRIMARY TREATMENT ZONE

A perforated pipe above the GSF Module distributes septic effluent into the plastic core. The module’s design increases surface area for biological treatment, where aerobic bacteria break down nutrients and contaminants. An anti-siltation geotextile fabric protects the system from fine particles, ensuring smooth operation.

SECONDARY TREATMENT ZONE

After initial treatment, effluent flows into a specified sand layer beneath the module. This sand layer provides additional filtration, maintains soil structure, and supports unsaturated flow into the native soil, where final filtration occurs. The treated effluent then recharges the groundwater, completing the process.

Easy Installation and Maintenance

Installing the Eljen GSF is straightforward. Place the modules on a base of stabilized sand, center a perforated pipe on top, and cover the modules with the provided fabric to protect the system. Once installed, it requires minimal maintenance, offering a reliable, long-term solution for wastewater management.
